Well…well…well….

Hello LKAL! It has been quite a while since I was here making a blog post. That is mostly because of “brain trouble.” I haven’t been knitting or reading either. I know…crazy.

You see, I have PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) as well as some crippling depression and anxiety. These conditions sometimes strip away any joy or satisfaction I get from my regular hobbies. I simply do not enjoy doing ANYTHING! This also happens all of a sudden. What is equally frustrating is that the “cure” for the “blues” is to do something you enjoy. But, what happens when you can’t enjoy anything? I know some of you out there feel me.

So, this 2 year hiatus came with it some much needed self-care. I am constantly telling my patients to get self-care in my massage office. I have an entire hand-out with a handy check list of some easy things that a person can do even. The items that are missing from that list are introspection and unloading emotion baggage. This is what the past 2 years have been for me.

Since the election in 2016, I turned inward. As did a lot of Americans, am I right. I also had some physical ailments that needed to be addressed. This lead to me finding the most amazing group of health care providers and now I finally feel like we are getting down to the basics of what is causing most of my mental anguish.

What does all this mean for the blog? I’ve started knitting again!!! I also have started reading again!!!! And enjoying both!!!

This year I am doing the Pop-Sugar reading challenge and trying real hard not to aim for perfection. Instead, I am reading at my own pace. I do have some back-log reviews and knitting projects that I am going to try and load up as well. So look for a huge burst of posts and then hopefully, a more consistent strain. I may also start blogging about issues other than just books and yarn. Because let’s face it, we all need to have some heavy conversations about some stuff.
